My Arrival.

Hey blog world! I'm officially here and I couldn't be happier. I promised the first encounter between us would be the first day of September, and since I only have 4.5 hours left I will keep this short and sweet!

I feel like I may owe a tiny explanation about my self-proclaimed titles. I actually am one who hates titles, but in order to separate myself from my peers - on paper anyways - I needed to be recognized as something more than a event & wedding planner. When you add the suffix "-ista" to a word it denotes one who follows a principle or one who is adept: fully skilled or well versed in something; Hence, EVENTista. I also like to refer to myself as a party stylist. This allows fully trained and schooled event designers, interior decorators, and fashion stylists to own and brag about their hard-earned degrees while I fall somewhere in the middle of that triangle - only possessing innate qualities from each profession.

I want to thank my parents for appropriately (and conveniently for my creativity/alliteration purposes) bestowing me with a name that begins with the letter 'E'.  All of the major adjectives that represent me can be grouped in the 'E' category: Entrepreneuress, Edgy, Elegant, Eclectic, Eccentric, Effervescent, and Exotic.

I want you to know that I toyed with the idea of writing something as formal as this entry has been and decided that it was necessary BUT only this once. I do like to use fun words (that I can back up with a definition) but the tellings of my adventures will be more lax. Bible that!

Before I sign off and begin the move into my new apartment over the next 4 days I will leave you with this:

I love the life that I was born into and given, but I love even more what I've been able to create for myself. I want you to be a part of my Jane Layne Events events, my brain babies that are just waiting patiently to be used, my obsessive compulsive home organizational skills, my tips for being a hip and haute hostess, my interior decorating skills, the methods and madness of being a chic CEO, & my adoration for fashion and how it influences my existence.

Looking forward to this journey.

Happy Birthday Blog!

9 months ago, I had a brilliant idea. I wanted to sit down at my computer and join the fabulous ladies (& some gents) in the blogsphere. I was like, yah - I have this great idea and I must set my thoughts to the world immediately! Well, as the saying goes, "timing is everything" and in that very moment .. approximately .. I became bombarded with events and some incredible opportunities. Suddenly, I had no time to begin this journey and share my ramblings with people I didn't know.

Since that time my brain babies have been developing and changing and finally, with the help of Ms. Danielle Moss, graphic designer extraordinaire - amongst many other talents, my blog baby is here!

September 1st will be my first official post, but I will give you some sneak peaks in the days leading up to that highly anticipated day (sorry, don't want to get ahead of myself.)

In the meantime, please share my blog with your friends.

Cheers to the start of something new, great, wonderful, and utterly ME!

Hi, my name is Erica ...

and I'm an Eventaholic.

It is no joking matter that I can't go a day without fantasizing about magnificent events. My thoughts are constantly filled with how to take a basic theme and transform it into a dramatic and stunning affair. From the ambiance to the subtle details, the signature cocktail to the never-before-seen entertainment, I strive to orchestrate unforgettable celebrations.

Although my boutique firm, Jane Layne Events, is still in it's toddler phase I have been obsessed with planning events for the last ten years. My nearest and dearest have always described me as a unique trailblazer, and a fashionable one at that. I combine timeless sophistication with edgy-glam to create my personal panache. I must confess that as much as I (personally) dislike being the center of attention, I love for my work to be recognized as being something out of the ordinary.

I am inspired by innovative individuals, gorgeous destinations, interesting objects, beautiful music, and most of all: fashion. Much like putting together a killer outfit, I take a classic dress (momentous occasion) and accessorize it with one-of-a kind jewels, a fabulous bag, and a to-die-for shoes (decor, food, entertainment, etc.) to create stylish and personal events. Think of me as your party stylist!

I truly hope you enjoy my daily commentary about what's new and hip in the world of events, as well as my eclectic (and sometimes eccentric) lifestyle.
